Additional Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble Information

This career-spanning box of three CDs and a DVD celebrates a legacy that looms larger than that of any blues-rocking guitarist since Jimi Hendrix. Despite fears that a series of posthumous releases had depleted the Stevie Ray Vaughan vaults, previously unreleased gems dominate the selection. Highlights extend from Vaughan's swaggering apprenticeship with Paul Ray and the Cobras to slash-and-burn concert performances from the final month of his life. There are obligatory dips into the songbooks of Hendrix and Buddy Guy, appearances on MTV Unplugged and Austin City Limits, and instrumental interplay with brother Jimmie Vaughan and tourmate Jeff Beck. Though his guitar never loses its flamethrower intensity, the set documents his progression from the showoff licks of the young "Stevie Rave On" into a fully rounded artistry of soulful depth. --Don McLeese

What Customers Say About Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble:

To this day I love listening to his live stuff much more than any of his studio albums. Or, you're playing someplace and you just hit a note and people start screaming.that's it. It seemed that day that he never stopped playing.just moved seamlessly from song to song.

"When you're playing and all of the sudden you realize your toes are.just.tightened up and you get a chill all the way up your back because of what you just gave somebody and what they gave back to you. You just gave them a thrill, or you soothed them. That's probably the biggest thrill.

I first saw Stevie Ray Vaughan in 1984 at the Ampitheater in Shreveport, Louisiana. It was about his feeding off the energy of the audience.of the people there in front of him.he LOVED it. That's what the blues does to me." ---SRV .Enough said.

I was entranced by his playing.and still am. He is really the only artist that I really feel that way about, but I guess (know) that's what the blues (and Stevie Ray's guitar playing) is all about.

GREAT PRICE, GREAT VALUE, GREAT MUSIC. I COULD NOT BE MORE SATISFIED EVEN IF I HAD TO PAY MORE.

This could be a 'greatest hits' album. These 3 cds have a lot of nice live recordings. The quality is good.

We are going to Stevie Vaughan & Eric Clapton concert next month, and this was a great way to remember, the good old songs. I think this was a great deal.

Is there material missing. As a previous reviewer noted, most of the un released material is live, which for me, is truly worth every penny. Take the song Love Struck Baby or Rude Mood. Is this box set perfect. If you listen, i mean really listen, count the notes. Blues songs are vignettes to emotions and experiences. with SRV, it was always about the notes.

Is this box set worth every penny. The pace of songs varied almost every show. yes, the song lyrics didn't vary. I think so. As a person who saw him several times spanning his entire career with Double trouble, I could NOT disagree more.

No. The same reviewer noted that SRV seldom played the songs differently. The blues were always meant to be played live. Sure. As a serious SRV collector I've always been interested more in SRV as a performer and less about his studio work.
